Event Permits

Planning a special event in Folly Beach? We're here to help make the permitting process as smooth as possible. Whether you're organizing a festival, fundraiser, race, wedding, or community gathering, this page provides the information and forms you need to get started. We encourage applicants to apply early and reach out with any questions we're happy to assist you every step of the way.

To begin the permit process, simply use the menu on the left-hand side and select the arrow next to Event Permits for the dropdown options.

• Road Closure Request $150.00.
• Public Safety Officer $60-$80 an hour (more details below)
• Deposit $100.00 – $500.00 varies as noted.
• Fire Inspector (Special Inspection)$30.00.
• Fire Truck & Crew $400.00/hour.
• Public Works Staff $50.00/hour per staff member.
• Barricades$25.00 per barricade, per day.

The Folly Beach Department of Public Safety can assist with your off-duty security needs. The hourly rate ranges from $50-$70 an hour based on the nature and location of the requested detail. All inquiries regarding hourly rates can be answered by emailing Major Ortiz, ortiz@follybeach.gov.

There is a 4-hour Minimum hourly rate per Request:           

• HOLIDAY RATE*: The Holiday rate is time and a half. This rate applies on the following days: New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. *Officers are not allowed to work Off-duty shifts during Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th, Labor Day Weekend, and New Year’s Eve.
• EMERGENCY RATE**: Emergency Rate is in effect when the request is received less than 48 hours prior to the assignment. The rate varies on assignment.
