Get Out and Stay Out
Folly Beach is much more than just the beach. The city has five great parks, and between them, there is something for everyone--young and old.
Folly River Park and Karen Stringer Recreational Pier
Folly River Park is located on the island's backside, just as you come over the Folly River Bridge, adjacent to Center Street. It includes a community dock, which will allow residents and visitors to fish, crab, and enjoy marsh vistas of sunsets. It provides covered pavilions, swings, a fitness area, bathrooms, water bottle refill stations, and walkways throughout the park area. The pavilions are first-come, first-serve.

Timothy M. Goodwin Pirates Cove Playground
Timothy M. Goodwin Pirates Cove Playground is located on the 5th block east between Erie and Hudson. It provides a basketball court, a tennis court, a dog park, and a playground area themed for Folly Beach with pirates, boats, and the lighthouse slide. Kids will climb on the rope-webbed jungle gym and the shrimp boat equipped with toddler slides, monkey bars, fire poles, tunnels, a rock climb, and bridges. There are baby swings, a tire swing, and a little seahorse bounce. There is also a gazebo where you can hold a birthday party or gathering. The gazebo is first-come, first-serve.

Wave Watch Playground
Tucked away on the west side neighborhood of Folly Beach on the corner of 5th Street West and West Cooper lies a fun, colorful children’s playground called Wave Watch Park. A towering playhouse centers the area with slides, ropes, and poles. Swings, a web rope feature, and spinning seats surround the playhouse. Creatively painted surfboards line the fence with ocean-themed artwork from local residences. Artists include children from the library, the Wetmore family, the Foxhall family, and the Grooms family. New bathrooms on sight use natural solar lighting and feature a framed chalkboard for children to express their artistic side. A gazebo and table fill the corner for snacks and refreshments while enjoying the adventures at Wave Watch Park.

Folly Beach Bark Park
The Folly Bark Park is located on the East side of Folly Beach between the 5th and 6th block just past the water tower. You can enter from Erie or Hudson. The park offers natural shade, water for the pups, seating for their people, pet waste bags, and receptacles for disposing of them. Some dog park etiquette to keep in mind:
• Should your pet show signs of illness or contagious disease, don’t bring him/her to the park.
• Don’t bring a puppy less than four months old or a female in heat.
• Keep an eye on your dog! Don’t let your dog be aggressive with another dog.
• Pick up your dog’s waste immediately.
• Don’t bring food for yourself or your dog.
• Bring a ball but be prepared to lose it.
• Don’t let your dog run in a pack. Intervene when play starts to get rough.
• Your dog’s shots must be up to date.
• A full list of rules is posted at the park.

Muriel Edge Weathers Shadow Race Park
Muriel Edge Weathers Shadow Race park is the City’s most recently developed space. It is a unique and peaceful park that encourages calm activities and programs. Activities such as ladybug releases, bird watching, walking, relaxing, reading a book on the pergola benches, contemplating the history of the battery on the grounds, and enjoying the landscaping are all possibilities to enjoy this park. The landscaping has chosen plantings and fixtures to draw in unique local wildlife. Specifically, selected hardscapes such as bat, bee, ladybug, and birdhouses are weaved throughout the grounds with a pergola and benches.
