Litter

Waste in general can be a big problem, but litter is even worse, which is why noting these disposal centers is imperative in keeping trash off our beaches. Debris can be hazardous to wildlife, like sea turtles and dolphins. Visit Tangled in Trash to report wildlife interactions with marine debris.

The following organizations host beach cleanups and litter sweeps, allowing people to participate in hands-on volunteering and make a change.

Folly Litter Committee (Toby the Turtle)

Surfrider Foundation

South Carolina Aquarium

Palmetto Pride

You can help the South Carolina Aquarium keep track of trash by logging debris you find in the Litter Journal.
