The City of Folly Beach is accepting applications for the position of full-time firefighter. Successful applicant will be required to pass a physical, psychological test, polygraph test and extensive background check. Qualification/Certification requirements include the following: Firefighter II, Haz-Mat operations, SC Class E driver’s license, current EMT certification or higher medical training and preferred EVDT. Also, must be 21 years old, possession of a high school diploma or GED, have US Citizenship. Job description

The City of Folly Beach is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Building Official. This position works under the Chief Building Official to conduct code compliance inspections, some limited plan review, and assist in other administrative tasks as needed. This position also serves as an Ordinance Compliance Officer who will issue citations to those who violate City codes/ordinances.

Qualified applicants will have 10 years' experience or equivalent as an inspector, engineer, contractor, or superintendent of construction, or any combination of these, 5 years of which shall have been supervisory experience.

Applicants MUST be certified as a commercial combination inspector or building official through the International Code Council.

Duties Include:

• Assist building and facilities director with scheduling/coordinating facilities maintenance and special projects for City owned properties.
• Perform residential and commercial inspections for compliance with applicable codes (building, fire, flood, etc.)
• Assist compliance officers with enforcement of municipal ordinances
• MUST be available during emergency situations and be involved with Emergency Management Operations.

The City of Folly Beach is accepting applications for a full-time Utility Assistant. Utility Assistants assist in the maintenance of Folly Beach's water distribution system. Successful candidates must have the ability to work outdoors in both hot and cold weather, and work in a team environment. Applicants must be willing to be called in during off-hours, should emergency work be needed.

DUTIES:

• Perform readings of monthly and quarterly water meters for billing purposes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on water meters and lines.
• Assist in installation of water meters, lines, and other water infrastructure, using hand tools in all repairs.
• Must perform all duties in a safety conscious manner.
• Complete emergency repairs to water infrastructure.
• Assist in pre-disaster preparation and post-disaster recovery.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be eligible to work in the US
• Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of related utility experience preferred.
• Must pass a background investigation and drug screening.
