The City of Folly Beach is accepting applications for the position of full-time firefighter. Successful applicant will be required to pass a physical, psychological test, polygraph test and extensive background check. Qualification/Certification requirements include the following: Firefighter II, Haz-Mat operations, SC Class E driver’s license, current EMT certification or higher medical training and preferred EVDT. Also, must be 21 years old, possession of a high school diploma or GED, have US Citizenship. The City offers a full benefit package to include health, dental and long-term disability insurance paid by the City. Vision, dental plus, supplemental ltd and optional life are also available. The City of Folly Beach is a member of SC PEBA retirement systems. Starting Salary for the position is $42958.00. Successful applicant will also be eligible for $1942.00 for 11 paid holidays. Full time Public Safety Officer
The City of Folly Beach is a small island located nine miles southeast of Charleston SC. There are approximately 2500 year-round residents with an abundance of visitors during our warm months. Officers certified in other states are also encouraged to apply. Other qualification requirements include the following: must have attained the age of 21, possession of a high school diploma or GED, US Citizenship, and no convictions for domestic batteries or any crimes that include the use of a firearm. Vision, dental plus, supplemental ltd and optional life are also available for employees to fund. Starting Salary for SC LE1 certified applicants is $43496.42. Successful applicant will also be eligible for $2629.50 for 11 paid holidays. Folly Beach Chief Municipal Court Judge
The City of Folly Beach is accepting applications for the position of part-time Chief Municipal Court Judge. Folly Beach Municipal Court is held every Friday morning and the Chief Judge generally presides over court two times per month, based on a schedule set by the Chief Municipal Court Judge with input from the Associate Judge. The Chief Judge is also responsible for periodically signing warrants and returns from the Folly Beach Public Safety Department as well as administrative scheduling and other matters outside of Court.
The City seeks applications from attorneys licensed to practice law in South Carolina whose other work does not involve representation of clients in Folly Beach criminal cases. The position is appointed by City Council pursuant to City Code 32.07 and SC Code 14-25-1. This will be a two-year term beginning July 1, 2023, and ending July 1 2025. The starting annual salary is $11,448 per year. City Council has placed additional funds equaling a total salary of $12,249.36 into a reserve and may adjust the salary mid-term. The position participates in the South Carolina Retirement System administered by SCPEBA.
