Water Main Replacement on E. Hudson Ave

The City of Folly Beach Public Works Department will begin a project to replace the aging water main on E. Hudson Ave. This essential upgrade will improve water quality, increase water pressure, and reduce the frequency of water main breaks in your neighborhood

Project Details:

  • Location: E. Hudson Ave, from Center Street to 6th Street East.
  • Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.***
  • Possible night work may take place. Notice will be given.


Construction Schedule for Folly Beach Water Main Replacement

  • 2nd Street to 3rd Street 1 – week and 2 days to cross the intersection. (September 18 – September 24, 2025)
  • 3rd Street to 4th Street 2- weeks and 2- days to cross the intersection. (September 25, -October 10, 2025)
  • 4th Street to 5th Street 2- weeks and 2- days to cross the intersection. (October 13– October 24, 2025)
  • 5th Street to 6th Street 3- weeks and 2 days to cross the intersection. (October 27, 2025 – November 14, 2025)



Water Service Installation

  • 6th Street to 5th Street (November 17th to November 25th
  • November 26th work until midday to secure the site for Thanksgiving Holiday
  • November 27th to November 30th Thanksgiving Holiday Observed.
  • December 1st to December 23nd continue installing water services to complete between 6th Street to 5th Street
  • If time permits start installing services between 5th Street and 4th Street.
  • December 24th work until noon to secure site for Christmas Holiday.
  • December 25th through January 1st (Christmas Holiday observed.)

Notice and Scope of Impacts:

  • NOTICE TO FOLLY BEACH RESIDENTS -August 24th, 2025
  • Water Service Interruptions: We anticipate several planned, temporary water shut-offs. A separate notice will be delivered to your door at least 24 hours in advance of any planned outage.
  • Traffic & Parking: Please be aware of temporary lane closures and the presence of construction equipment. Parking on E. Hudson Ave will be limited during work hours.
  • Restoration: After the new water main is installed, crews will repair any affected areas, including sidewalks, driveways.
