Public Safety runs three vessels for our Marine Patrol/Rescue Team. This team is made up of members of both Police and Fire Divisions. Our vessels run approximately 40-50 rescues annually. All members are NASBLA certified emergency boat operators or deck hands and are authorized to enforce SC boating laws by SC DNR.Our vessels include Marine 1101 (23′ Parker), Marine 1102 (24′ Carolina Skiff), and Marine 1103 (a Yamaha Jet Ski). Our Marine Rescue Launch site is located at 97 Center Street.
Our members of Beach Patrol are also authorized to issue City Ordinance Violations throughout the community and primarily on the Beach Front. We work year-round, and up-staff in the spring and summer months.
