Folly Beach Bans Smoking on the Beach
March 09, 2021
Smoking will no longer be permitted in Folly Beach as the weather warms up and more people flock to the beaches.
By a vote of 4-3 on Tuesday night, the city council approved a ban that forbids smoking at beach access points and on the beach itself.
Fines for violation of the ban start at $25, and increase to $50 and $100 for repeated offenses.
The goal of the legislation was to lessen pollution and litter in what was seen as the center of the city's economic activities.
