CoastSnap
CoastSnap is a beach monitoring project that uses cell phone photos taken by beach comers at a specific site to track how a place’s shoreline is changing over time. The data helps the U.S. Army make decisions on when to renourish the beach and provides scientists important data on shoreline change, sea-level rise, king tides and hurricanes.
You can access the CoastSnap station on the Folly Beach Pier. Read more about it here.
